My name is Dan 'the Band' Kuchar. I'm a songwriter / musician living in Troy MI. I've played music professionally and semi-pro for all of my adult life. Most notable among my playing credits was a tour in 1981 with the Dramatics (a Detroit based nationally known R & B singing group) and have appeared on the same bill as Smokey Robinson, HEATWAVE, Frankie Beverly & MAZE and the BarKays.

I have always been involved with music technology, synthesizers, etc., and in 1983 was one of the first people to use a PC based MIDI sequencer in live performance. My current group (for the last 11 years) is STREETCORNER, a 50's 60's and MOTOWN vocal group. STREETCORNER consists of 4 fellows besides myself that sing and do light choreography (like the Drifters, the Platters, Temptations, etc.) and I sing, play guitar and keyboards and program and operate the computer that does all the 'band' stuff (drums, bass, horns, strings, etc.).

I think I wrote my first song at age 9. I also studied Music Theory at various band camps I attended as a high school student. I have been writing songs ever since that time. Although I had dabbled in writing Country music since the early 80's, since 1992 I have focused on writing country music almost exclusively.

I have made it a major goal to get my music published and recorded in a major way. I have an affiliation with BMI and the Nashville Songwriters Assn. International. I was chosen to attend NSAI Song Camp 101 in March 1995 and Song Camp 201 in October 1996. I have several songs cut on various independent releases and many more being pitched by independent song pluggers and publishers in Nashville.

I do the demos in my basement with my friends singing, my MIDI gear, a DAT recorder an some simple but effective audio gear. My 'day gig' is working as a computer programmer / project leader for a large waste company in the Detroit area.
